Senate President, Godswill Akpabio has debunked reviews that the higher legislative chamber embarrassed Senator Sani Musa (APC, Niger East) throughout a current plenary session.
In an announcement he signed personally on Friday in Abuja and titled “Clarification on Deceptive Reviews Relating to Senate Proceedings,” Akpabio outlined the net claims as false and deceptive.
“My consideration has been drawn to reviews alleging that Senator Sani Musa was ‘rubbished’ on the Senate ground for allegedly failing to outline the phrase ‘harmonised.’
“That is fully unfaithful,” the Senate President stated.
“The incident being referenced was misrepresented and brought out of context,” he said.
He added that when Musa was about to be referred to as upon, Senator Abdul Ningi raised a degree of order that wanted procedural consideration in keeping with Senate guidelines.
“The session continued with none breach of decorum. Senator Musa was neither embarrassed nor unable to reply,” he clarified.
Akpabio additional praised Musa’s contributions to the Senate, noting his management as Chairman of the Joint Committee on Finance and the Convention Committee that efficiently harmonized the Tax Reform Payments.
“The Nigerian Senate operates on rules of respect, order, and integrity. Whereas we welcome public engagement, we urge all media platforms to make sure their commentary is rooted in details and never sensationalism,” he added.
