Information you provide
Our contact form asks for your name, email address, subject and message. We use that information to respond to enquiries, consider story tips, handle reader feedback and manage correspondence. Please do not send passwords, payment details or unnecessary sensitive information. If comments are enabled on a page, information submitted with a comment may be displayed publicly, except for fields identified as private, such as your email address.
Technical information and accounts
Website delivery, security and administration involve technical information such as IP addresses, browser and device details, page requests and timestamps. WordPress uses cookies for functions such as sign-in and session management. Public self-service registration is currently disabled; authorised users may have account and profile information stored for access and administration. Password-reset and security processes may use technical information to protect accounts.
Comments, avatars and external content
Where comments are available, comment text and associated information may be retained for moderation and discussion. Author or commenter avatars may be requested from Gravatar, operated by Automattic. See Automattic’s Privacy Policy. Articles may contain external images, videos or other embedded material. Loading such content can send technical information to its provider, which may also use cookies under its own policies. A link or embed does not mean Montage Africa controls that provider.
Why information is used
Information is used to deliver and secure the website, manage authorised access, answer messages, handle complaints and corrections, maintain records and meet applicable obligations. Where data-protection law requires a lawful basis, the appropriate basis depends on the activity—for example, consent for optional marketing or certain cookies, handling a requested service, legitimate interests in website security and correspondence, or a legal obligation. You may contact us to ask about the basis for a specific use.
Service providers and disclosures
Information may be processed by providers that support hosting, email delivery, site administration and security, to the extent needed for those services. We may also disclose information where required by applicable law or reasonably necessary to address fraud, abuse or a security incident. Public comments and information you choose to publish can be seen by other visitors. We do not promise confidentiality for material submitted for publication; discuss confidential story tips with the editorial team before sending sensitive material.
Newsletters
Newsletter signup is currently unavailable on this website. If newsletters are enabled later, the signup information, delivery provider, purpose and unsubscribe method will be explained before you subscribe. Sending an enquiry through the contact form is not a newsletter subscription.
Advertising and Google services
Google AdSense advertising is being considered; this page does not state that Google ads are currently active. If Google advertising is enabled, third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on a visitor’s previous visits to this website or other websites. Google’s advertising cookies allow Google and its partners to show ads based on visits across the internet. Visitors can manage or opt out of personalised Google advertising through Google My Ad Center and review how Google uses information from partner websites. Other advertising vendors, if introduced, must be identified with appropriate policy and choice links. The advertising disclosures and consent controls must be updated to match the services actually enabled.
Cookies and your choices
See our Cookie Policy and Your Privacy Choices page for information about browser controls, sign-in cookies and third-party services. A privacy policy or a browser setting alone does not provide a website consent-management system. If advertising or other optional tracking is introduced, the applicable consent choices must be provided through the configured service.
Retention and international processing
How long information is kept depends on its purpose, the records involved, operational needs and applicable obligations. Correspondence may remain in email records; authorised account information may be retained while access or administrative records are needed; published comments may remain with their discussion. Hosting, email and external-content providers may process information in other countries. Contact us for information about a particular record or processing arrangement.
Access, correction and other requests
Depending on the law that applies to you, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection or a copy of certain personal information, and to withdraw consent where processing relies on it. These rights can have exceptions. We may need proportionate information to verify a request. Use the Contact page with the subject “Privacy request”; do not include identity documents unless specifically requested through an appropriate channel. You may also raise a concern with the data-protection authority relevant to your situation. Where relevant, you can contact the Nigeria Data Protection Commission or the Information Regulator of South Africa. The applicable rights and processes depend on the law and circumstances of your request.
Children, security and updates
This is a general news and magazine website. Please contact us if you believe a child has submitted personal information that should not have been collected. Reasonable safeguards are important, but no online transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. We may revise this policy when the website or its services change. The review date identifies the latest version of this text.
