Accessibility Statement

Help us make Montage Africa easier to read and use.

Updated 25 October 2026

Our aim

Our aim is to make the website usable by as many readers as possible, including people who use keyboards, screen readers, magnification and other assistive tools. Accessibility is an ongoing task. This statement is not a certification of compliance or a claim that the entire archive has passed an accessibility audit.

Reading and navigation

The current design uses responsive layouts, readable text, heading structures and links to article destinations. Readers can use browser zoom and device accessibility settings. Images, older imported articles and third-party material may contain inconsistencies that need attention. Some legacy layouts may differ from the newer design.

Known limitations

The site contains older and externally supplied material. Alternative text, heading order, link descriptions, embedded content and keyboard behaviour may not be consistent throughout the archive. Third-party services may introduce additional limitations. Please identify a specific barrier so it can be investigated rather than assuming every page has been verified.

Captions, transcripts and media

Dedicated Watch and Listen programming is being prepared. As media is introduced, captions and transcripts should be considered during publishing. This statement does not claim that all existing or future media already includes captions or transcripts. If you need an accessible alternative for a specific item, send its URL and describe the format you need.

Report an accessibility problem

Use the Contact page and put “Accessibility” in the subject. Include the page URL, what you were trying to do, the barrier encountered and, if you wish, your browser, device or assistive technology. Do not include passwords or sensitive account information. We will assess the report and discuss available alternatives.

Ongoing improvements

Reader feedback can help prioritise contrast, keyboard access, text alternatives, understandable forms and accessible media. New content and design changes should be checked for barriers. This statement will be updated when material changes or a formal assessment provides more specific findings.
