Uzodinma urges NDDC to build more projects in Imo

The Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, has urged the Board and Management of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, to engage in building more developmental projects in the state, especially in the oil-producing communities.

The governor made the appeal while attending the inauguration of a 7.6 km road project embarked upon by the commission.

He said that the state needs more presence of the commission in terms of infrastructural development in the oil-rich communities for the socio-economic growth of the people.

Uzodinma thanked the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for what he described as his leadership qualities that are translating to the sharing of prosperity in the country, which he said includes the state and the Niger Delta region, maintaining that the people of the state remain grateful to him.

The governor, in his speech, also commended the Minister of Regional Development, Abubakar Momoh, for working closely with the leadership of the NDDC in ensuring that the Tinubu-led administration succeeds in its agenda, mostly at the grassroots level.

He congratulated the Board and Management of the NDDC for working in harmony to provide the needed social services for the people, a situation he said is stimulating development in the Niger Delta region.

Governor Uzodinma had earlier, while receiving in audience the Board Chairman and Management team of the commission at the New Exco Chambers, Government House, Owerri, thanked the NDDC for partnering with the state and reminded the leadership of the need to undertake more interventions.

The number one citizen of the state congratulated the new Board for the achievements recorded within a short space of time and attributed the feat to teamwork and reforms in the commission.

He maintained that the state will continue to support and partner with the NDDC to ensure hitch-free operations of the commission in keeping with the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President’s APC-led administration.

“The Management of NDDC has remained focused on the Renewed Hope Agenda. I am proud to be associated with NDDC. Most of the rural roads are done by NDDC, and the government is one,” the governor noted.

Uzodinma added that the recently completed 7.6 km Eziama/Abba/Owerre Nkworji road will go a long way in assisting the state government in its pursuit of providing infrastructural and economic development to the people, especially the rural dwellers.

He also commended the commission for its light-up programme, which he said has yielded tremendous results in reducing crime and criminality, especially at night.

In his speech, the leader of the team and NDDC Governing Board Chairman, Mr. Chiedu Ebie, stated that they were in the state for a series of events, including the commissioning of the 7.6 km road and to keep the state governor abreast of the events marking the 25th anniversary of the commission.

Part of the events, according to him, include unveiling the anniversary logo and mascot for the Niger Delta Sports Festival, which will be held between April 1 and 9, 2025, in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

Mr Ebie commended Uzodinma for his partnership and unwavering support for the commission and promised that the NDDC would continue to provide interventions that impact the lives of the people of the Niger Delta region.

She reassured that the National Assembly will continue to give the commission every legislative support at all times.
