Indigo textiles take centre stage in this Africanews report from Lake Toho in Ouidah, Benin. Designer Nadia Adanlé’s Couleur Indigo brand presented its Apusomɛ collection on 24 October, with sixteen patterns drawing on the marine world.
The report connects the finished garments with the knowledge behind them: dyeing, textile production and the transmission of craft. Fish, shells and other ocean forms become design references, while Adanlé explains how her work also carries historical memory.
The runway footage provides a closer look at a collection whose meaning is difficult to capture in a still photograph alone. Watch the original report for the designer’s explanation and the garments in motion. The source publication is dated 27 October; the show itself took place three days earlier.
