Global shipping giant Mediterranean Shipping Company has secured a 45-year concession with Nigerdock to develop and operate a new container terminal at Snake Island Port, marking a major expansion of port infrastructure in Nigeria.
The terminal forms part of MSC’s broader $1 billion investment aimed at strengthening logistics and supply chains in Africa’s largest economy.
Once completed in 2028, the 30-hectare facility will feature a 910-meter quay capable of handling large deep-sea vessels as well as barges.
The deal comes as Lagos ports buckle under chronic congestion and global shipping companies race to secure strategic footholds in fast-growing emerging markets.
