Enugu state police on Tuesday has urged its public not to entertain fear ahead of the September weapon training for police recruits.
The State’s Police Public Relations Officer PPRO, SP Ebere Amaraizu, made the appeal in a statement in Enugu.
He stated that the one week exercise was to improve the weapon handling proficiency of the new intakes.
He noted that the exercise would be carried out at the Superior Police Officers Mess within the ever busy Agbani Road in Enugu.
The command wishes to inform the public especially those living in the command’s shooting range located behind Superior Police Officers Mess, Agbani Road, that there will be weapon handling and shooting range exercise for police recruits of Police College, Oji-River.
“The exercise kicks-off from September 11 to end on September 16.
“Members of the public are advised not to panic or entertain fear during the exercise as it is a routine training exercise carried out by the police to enhance professionalism in weapon handling.
Furthermore, he urged members of the public particularly residents of the state to stay away from the shooting range and its environs within the period of the exercise.
