Online travel booking is safer, cheaper, convenient – Agency

Travel Start Nigeria, an online travel agency has urged air travelers to always book their flights online because it is safer, cheaper and convenient.

The company manager, Mr Philip Akesson, made this known in an interview, according to  Agency reports, on Friday in Lagos.

Akesson said that online booking sometimes came with discounts from airlines, which were usually transferred to the customers.

“Majority of airlines give out discounts and commissions to some travel agencies and they are sometimes transferred to the customers.

“Most travel agencies ensure they get enough customers for airlines in order to get more commissions.

“Online booking is becoming trending and more Nigerians need to key into such global trends.

“It is cheaper, safer and convenient to book online,” he said.

Akesson also applauded National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies, NANTA, for proper regulations of the travel industry.

He said that NANTA had been doing a great job in their regulations and urged them to do more.

NAN reports that Travel Start Nigeria is the leading online travel booking website serving the needs of Nigerian travellers.

It offers Nigerian travelers the ability to book flights, hotel accommodation, car rentals, travel insurance and even vacation packages online.

Akesson said that the agency had been partnering with some airlines on discounted travel fares for its customers.

He said that its agency had discount bargain with airlines such as British Emirate, Etihad, KLM, Virgin Atlantic, Lufthansa, Air France among others.

According to him, over 30,000 Nigerians have benefited from the discounted fee offer by the agency since its inception in 2012.

Akesson said that the agency’s biggest travel market is Nigeria with thousands of travelers booking online.
