MTN Foundation commissions renovated maternity wards in Kaduna

MTN Foundation has received glowing accolades from the Kaduna State Government for commissioning five Ultra-modern maternity wards in the state. The renovation of the well-equipped maternity wards was done in conjunction with the Kaduna State Government and JNCI, the MTNF project partner.

The auspicious project is aimed at complimenting Government’s national objective of reducing maternal and infant mortality in Nigeria.

The five beneficiary hospitals in Kaduna are; Jubrin Mai Gwari Hospital; Yusuf Dan Tsofo Memorial Hospital, Kaduna; Hajia Gambo Sabawa Hospital Zaria; DaboLere Memorial Hospital, Saminaka and General Hospital Kafanchan.

This development is in fulfillment of the announcement made earlier in the year to renovate 24 maternal wards in select hospitals, in six states across the country, under the MTNF, Maternal Ward Support Project.  The other beneficiary states are; Abia, Cross River, Niger, Oyo and Sokoto State.

Commissioning the maternity wards, Commissioner for Health and Human services, Dr. Paul Manya Dogo in his goodwill message, expressed gratitude to the Foundation for providing quality health facilities to enhance the effort of the State Government in making the health sector more valuable.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Director, MTN Foundation Mrs. Aisha Sadauki said,

“The partnership with Kaduna State is a step in the right direction. One that will positively impact on the overall health indicators of the country.”

Also, the Executive Secretary MTN Foundation, Ms. Nonny Ugboma said that MTN, through its Foundation, is committed to complimenting government’s objectives of improving the quality of life of Nigerians through better healthcare services. She stated that MTN Foundation has invested over N18billion since inception in 2005 and has over 550 project sites across Nigeria.

Each of the newly commissioned wards is equipped with:
• 20 hospital beds with cardiac rest
• 20 standard hospital mattresses
• 20 standard hospital bed pillows
• 10 four-way foldable ward screens
• 20 metal bedside cupboards
• 20 visitors’ chairs
