Benin City – Despite the calls for the postponement of Saturday’s governorship election in Edo State due to security concerns, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Godwin Obaseki, his counterpart in Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Osagie Ize-Iyamu and other aspirants have signed a peace accord to ensure a smooth governorship election in the state whenever it would hold.
The peaceful pact was coordinated by the Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu, in the presence of religious leaders, security agencies and the media.
A tweet by the commission said the agreement contained an undertaking by the candidates and their parties to avoid actions that could promote violence during and after the election
