Cleric decries religious discrimination, preaches unity, peace among Christians, Muslims

Pastor John Olorunleke of Salvation Assembly, Sango, Ilorin, has advised Nigerians who indulge in religious discrimination to eschew the behaviour in the interest of unity, peace and development of the country.

Olorunleke gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin on Wednesday.

He expressed concern that discrimination among different religious groups in the country had become a syndrome threatening the national unity.

“It is not only ethnic differences, thought by many, that are causing division in the country, religious intolerance and discrimination have done more harm than good to the unity of this great nation.

“How we can live in peace when we don’t trust our neighbour because of his or religious difference,” he said.

The cleric called on Nigerians to trust and love one another, not minding religious differences in order to live in peace.

He also called on religious leaders to preach tolerance to their followers in order to strengthen relationship among different religious groups.(NAN)
